Holiday Event Schedule – 2014

A number of holiday events are being planned for the first weekend in December by various organizations and the Port of Los Angeles, in addition to the 52nd Annual Harbor Holiday Afloat parade, to be held on Saturday, Dec. 6th, starting at 6:00 PM. Most events are FREE of charge, food and gift items are available to purchase.

Saturday, November 29th: 10AM – 5 PM, ‘Decorate the Drum’ Day, Drum Barracks Museum, 1052 N. Banning Blvd, Wilmington. Join volunteers as they adorn the Barracks from top to bottom in Civil War-era decorations.

Friday, December 5th: 11:30AM – 1:30PM, Victorian Christmas Luncheon, Banning Museum, 401 East ‘M’ Street, Wilmington. Elegant lunch, holiday entertainment and special sneak preview of Victorian-decorated Museum. Call (310) 548-2005 for tickets and reservations.

Friday, December 5th: 5PM – 9PM, Candy Cane Lane at Weymouth Corners, 8th and Weymouth Streets, San Pedro. Music, dancing, entertainment, food, cookie decorating, Santa visits and photos, activities for kids, face painting.

Saturday, December 6th: 11AM – 2PM, Wilmington Winter Wonderland, snow, face painting, games, holiday crafts and Radio Disney at the Wilmington Waterfront Park, ‘C’ Street and Neptune Ave. in Wilmington

Saturday, December 6th: 4PM – 6PM, Holiday Boutique, Ballet Folklorico Sol De Mexico performance, music, food, games and other festivities at Banning’s Landing, 100 Water Street (end of Avalon Blvd) in Wilmington

Saturday, December 6th: Starting at 6PM, Downtown Harbor, ‘Holidays by the Sea’ sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles, features a decorated Christmas Tree, tall ship Exy Johnson dressed in holiday finery, performances by the San Pedro Ballet and San Pedro High School Glee Club, arts and crafts, food and other activities. 5th Street & Harbor Blvd, San Pedro

Saturday & Sunday, December 6th & 7th: 11AM – 4PM, ‘Victorian Christmas’ at the Banning Museum, 401 East ‘M’ Street, Wilmington and ‘A Civil War Christmas’ at the Drum Barracks Museum, 1052 N. Banning Blvd, Wilmington. Events include museum tours, children’s Victorian crafts, local food and craft vendors, and a horse-drawn trolley ride between the museums.

Sunday, December 7th: 1PM – 3PM, Holiday Spirit of San Pedro Parade, Pacific Ave from 13th St to 6th St and east on 6th St to Palos Verdes St. Pre-parade entertainment 11:30AM – 12:45PM.

Sunday, December 14th: 12 noon – 2PM, Wilmington Heart of the Harbor Holiday Parade, Avalon Blvd between ‘E’ Street and ‘M’ Street in Wilmington.

Sunday, December 14th: 5PM, Battleship IOWA ‘Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’ Free admission, limited seating available on first come, first seated basis. Guests may bring their own chairs & blankets. Cookies, coffee and other beverages available for purchase.

Saturdays & Sundays, December 7, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 & 21: Starting at 6PM, ‘Holidays by the Sea’ festivities at the Downtown Harbor, 5th Street & Harbor Blvd, San Pedro. Dress warm, bring a chair and thermos of hot chocolate and enjoy a Holiday Sail Spectacular light show featuring a different classic holiday movie every weekend.
