LA Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade Celebrates 54th Year on December 3

SAN PEDRO, Calif. —  The 54th Annual Los Angeles Harbor Holiday Afloat Parade with the theme ‘Hollywood at the Harbor’ will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, starting at 6 p.m. in the Port of Los Angeles Main Channel. Jaina Lee Ortiz, co-star of Fox 11’s new hit series ‘Rosewood’ will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal presiding over this spectacular display of boats celebrating the nation’s largest international trade gateway.

Officials and community leaders will take part in the parade as judges or passengers on approximately 60 parade boats. Vessels of all shapes and sizes will participate, including powerboats, sailboats, tall ships and harbor working craft.

Sponsored by the Port of Los Angeles, the parade starts in the East Basin near Banning’s Landing Community Center in Wilmington and takes approximately 90 minutes to cover the entire parade route up the Port of Los Angeles Main Channel. Spectators may view the procession from several points along the Main Channel, including:

· Banning’s Landing Community Center, 100 E. Water Street, Wilmington
· Battleship IOWA, 250 S. Harbor Blvd, San Pedro
· Ports O’ Call Village, 1100 Nagoya Way, San Pedro
· Cruise Ship Promenade, Harbor Boulevard and Swinford Street, San Pedro
· Downtown Harbor, between Fire Station 112 and LA Maritime Museum, San Pedro         · 22nd Street Landing, 141 W. 22nd Street, San Pedro
· SS Lane Victory, Berth 46 at the end of Miner Street, San Pedro
· Cabrillo Marina, Holiday Harbor and Cabrillo Way Marina, San Pedro

Viewers are invited to enjoy festive pre-parade events beginning at 4 p.m. at Banning’s Landing Community Center and aboard the Battleship IOWA in San Pedro. Home viewers may also watch the parade on Los Angeles CityView Channel 35. For air times, visit www.lacityview.org.

Register your boat online or at one of the three skippers’ meetings to compete for a trophy. Vessel entry fee for the parade is only $30, which includes one admission to the Parade Awards Brunch on Sunday, December 4th, at the Los Angeles Yacht Club. Advance tickets for the Awards Brunch are $22 or $28 at the door.  Trophies will be awarded in the following categories: Theme, Traditional, Holiday Spirit, Most Original, Children’s Choice, Judge’s Choice, and Grand Marshal’s Award. Yacht clubs will be vying for the coveted Perpetual Trophy, awarded to the club with the most entries.
